Vw polo. I'm locked out of my car. central locking possible failure?

the key will not open the doors or the boot. I think it's a problem with the central locking. would really appreciate some advice|||A neighbour had a Beamer with same problem. There should be a routine to help in this situation. With his it involved the passenger side front door. Insert key, turn to front of car, push in door knob or lift door handle, whilst holding position of door knob or handle turn key to rear of car: door should open! It took some WD 40 in the lock as well and a few tries but it did work! Maybe VW's have a similar procedure? The hand book of the Beamer gave us the clue, have you access to a car handbook, it might tell you what to do. I hope this helps, post more if you want clarification. Regards AJ.
