Could I install keyless entry and locking in an 89 mercedes 300E with central locking?

My 89 300E has central locking but I was wondering if I could install a power locks thing on my car. how much do you think it would cost?|||Possible but not easy. Lots of time consumption.|||You might find an aftermarket auto electronics store to do it for you. If they do you might have electrical issues afterward.

Central locking not working.opened car manually and fuse box is clicking constant. Can't find a burned fuse?

i really don't know what it is. when i take out the fuse that is labelled ALIM UCH the ticking stops. I don't think my alarm works anyway on the car. Also the car won't even start. is there some problem with the engine managment system?|||it is not the fuse box clicking it is a relay switch near the fuse box..

check your car manual for the label that says ALIM UCH, this is no engine problem maybe this is worn/shorted wiring that needs to be fixed|||please indicate year make and model and i might be able to help you|||Try replacing the battery.... the clicking could well be the system trying to come online but due to lack of power it is unable too.|||The clicking sounds is the relay, you need to find which one it is and by the sound for thing replace it.

Ja.|||In my car, the central locking wouldn't work and the engine wouldn't start because I'd left my lights on and drained the battery. Maybe check the battery and charge it if necessary.|||has is said it's a relay put your finger on each one in turn and you will find the bad one(no you won't get a shock)|||Sounds as if the central locking/alarm/immobiliser unit is fried. Suggest a qualified mechanic with renault experience|||The clicking noise is most likely a relay... when you pull the fuse, it kills the power to that relay (black square box @ 1"x1"). Find the relay that's clicking, and start by replacing that. Good Luck!|||The clicking from the fuse box will definately be a relay, track it down and change it. There's nothing in a fuse that could click.

I own a VW Polo a while ago my central locking went in my drivers door and now my passenger door!can you help?

I cannot now open either of my doors, and my options are to either leave the car unlocked OR lock the doors and climb through the boot to open my drivers door! i changed a fuse for the central locking, but this did not help! Can anybody suggest anything else? Many Thanks|||2 small paddles that fasten to door lock barrels have broken .These operate central locking triggers in either door.If you can get the paddles from a scrap yard they can be replaced but its a right fiddly job.remove door inner panels undo door catch mechanism from the edge of the door then undo door handle remove door handle and you will see the paddle about 2 inch long its held in place by a horseshoe clip and spring pressure(right bi*ch to put back together) then you have to reassemble the handle and lock mechanism back in the door both at the same time or they wont mate up then replace door inner panel and trim.Good luck I did my daughters last week a right bas*ard job|||Many cars that have a command switch to operate all windows and door lock from the driver's. My remote central locking is not working properly. It will lock but not open. what could be the problem?

It will lock but not open. I can hear the flick in the car like it trying to open and the lights turn on but the car stays locked unless I open the car manually. What is the problem?|||Start by changing your remote battery. It uses less power to lock the system than unlock it,hope this helps(make and year of car will get you a better answer)|||Depends on what car? if it clicks then the motor is working, what you have to do is get next to the car operate the remote and you should see the button bounce, if it does this then the door trim needs to come off and free the arm that feeds the door opening pin with oil and make sure the vapour sheet and door trim go on correct, so the pin can pop up.

Hope this helps.|||try reprogramming your key. Look in the manual and it should tell you. I had similar problem my central locking wouldnt work but i could open and shut doors with manual key. Then reprogrammed key and now it works fine. Try doing this before taking it to anyone as it will cost you money to do this.

X reg ford focus estate i am having trouble with the central locking?

Fitting central locking and alarm on ford fiesta 02 reg?

Hi People!

I would like to know how I can go about to have a central locking and alarm fitted on my car, is it a diffcult and costly process? how much would it cost to have this done by garage compared to dealer ship. If possible how easy is it to fit myself?|||first of all dont worry about the alarm no one will steal it incase it breaks down on the way Fixed Or Repaired Daily but if it is an 2002 plated car did you no that All cars built after 1998 must have a standard alarm system fitted when being built also an imobiliser system with chip in your ignition key and central locking so alarm and imoboliser works properly well it is in england anyway|||Why? Who do you think's gonna bother nicking a Fiesta? But seriously, alarm's an easy job but central locking'll cost you more than the car's worth.

Central locking & alarm bo not work. What can i try.The car got river damage?

The car is rover 416|||hi there it sounds as water has got into central locking system as the central locking activates alarm when locked depending how bad river damage and how high water covered car ir could be relay or drivers door switch check your fuse box for blown fuse if not check for water at fuse box also try drying units with hairdryer hope this helps you jock|||Check that nothing is fouling propellor.|||Get the car checked out by a professional, sounds like an electrical short somewhere.|||look, no one is going to steal a rover 416... i'll bet the doors still lock manually, and an alarm can be refitted... just get a kids cycle lock, the twisted cable type, wrap it around the seat base and then thru the steering wheel... theyre very difficult to remove, and at five quid it doesnt get any cheaper...

i did this for the last 5 years on my volvo... i didnt even lock it...

Does anyone know anything about cars central locking??mine has stopped working is it a fuse?

check battery in fob if its a remote lock other than that it will be a fuse and prob a 10 or 15 amp one blue or red|||fuse is first thing to look for then check switch|||yes,..... please check a fuse first.

2nd.maybe something wrong whit motor actuator or control unit.

I cannot lock my car with the key from the outside. (not central locking)?

I have a W reg VW polo (Mark III facelift 00-02) and i recently installed some new speakers, finished that job but then i noticed that the front drivers door lock doesnt work properly.

Basically i cant lock the drivers door with the key from the outside, however i can unlock it with the key from the outside. The door still locks from the inside so the barrel cant be broken.

Is the lock broke or have I just knocked something off when messing around with the speakers??|||The linkage from the key to the locking mechanism probably needs to be adjusted. It is reached by removing the panel from the inside of the door.|||Well there's no way you can fix the lock without getting to it.

If this was my car, i'd take the door panels off the inside of each door.

Look at both of them, the door that locks properly is what your other door should look like.

What you see that's different is what is wrong with it.

Remote Central locking problem?

The remote central locking on my Renault Laguna RT seems to be very weak, i'm having to put the keyfob up against the window and it takes between 4-10 times before the car locks/unlocks any idea what could be wrong? I'd like to be able to unlock/lock the car from a distance and not have to stand at the window for ages pressing the button.|||I don't know the age of the car, so there for the age of the key, but it could possibly be as simple as a new battery in the key itself.|||yeah, charles is right, I'd bet its the fob battery or at least a dodgy connection inside it, batteries are cheap try a new one

How can i open my car door if the Central Lock not working?

When I used my remote control to unlock my car today, it doesnt work, then i tried to use my spare remote control. It is still not working.

If I use my key to open the door directly, the security alarm would active (beep). cos i cant use the remote control to unlock it.

Now my car is still in my friend's car park and i cant drive my car to repair~~ anyone tell me how to do pls|||Isn't technology great?

If you unlock it by using the key, as soon as you start the car, the alarm should turn off.

Otherwise, have it towed to your dealer.|||Open the car with your key. Your alarm will sound. Open the hood and find a power wire to your alarm system and disconnect the alarm.

Many times, that would be enough to get you going. If the alarm is design so that it would disable the car if disconnected, then you have to find the wire that grounds the power to distributor (or whatever else it does to disable the car). But at least with the alarm disconnected you'll have breathing time to work on the car.|||First you should try replacing the batteries in the remotes. they are simple watch batteries found at pretty much any watch store. If that doesn't work then just open the hood (the alarm will go off unfortunaly) and undo the battery cables and accessory cables. That should kill the power to the alarm. Then only put the main battery cables( the two big ones) back on with out the accessory cables. That will get the car to start and the alarm will be unpowered. You can then take it to a repair shop and have them look at the alarm system.|||Is this a factory installed or after market alarm system. Does your key have a chip in it to start the car? If it is factory then you open the door with the key you have so long to start it before the alarm goes off. You might just have a dead battery in your car to.(Not enough volt/current) to activate the locks and start the car.But the alarm will still go off.

Central locking keeps on poping up everytime i lock my car?

vauxhall vectra 04 model|||Re-check all your doors and boot are closed properly.

If it still does it you have a solenoid faulty. |||hello this happend to me and it was the batery in my case |||Probably the drivers door lock is faulty, either the lock isn't fully engaging or the sensor that detects a properly closed door is at fault. This is intended to prevent you pressing the button while getting out of the car and slamming the locked door closed without the keys in your hand

Problem with the central locking on my 307?

I can unlock my 307 with the button as normal, when i open the drivers door, the whole car locks itself so once inside the car i have to unlock the other doors. When opening the car door like i said it locks itself so the car inside light goes off which is really not good when it's dark.

Any ideas on the cost to fix this or just any help or advise really.

Many thanks

There must be a problem with the central locking mechanism. It will probably cost you nothing to get a diagnosis.

The remote key fob for the renault megane scenic stopped working the central locking. Any idea to fix this?

I changed the battery, the light on the fob flashes, but it does not activate the central locking. Good Luck!! D;)).

Are power locks on a car the same as central locking? ie. remote locking.?

power locks would be the same as central locking. could be very minor differences. on some cars the drivers button will lock all the doors and some will have that feature on the passenger door also. remote locking usually refers to a remote control of some type so you can lock and unlock your car once you are outside of it. hope this helped.|||Power locking is sometimes referred to as dead locking.

The first press on the fob will lock, the second will dead lock ?|||Yes - nothing to do with deadlocking|||yes

How do I lock my ford KA collection manually? The central locking is a bit hit and miss.?

When I put the key in the lock on both doors it tends to lock and unlock itself, always ending up unlocked. I am worried i will end up somewhere unable to lock my car and need an alternative.

If I removed the fuse for central locking would I be able to lock the doors manually with the key? Or is there a way to lock the car from the inside?

I have taken it to a garage and now it does it less often but is still a problem.

Please help!|||Removing the fuse turns the central locking "off" you then should be able to lock it with the key.

Fixing central locking for a Suzuki Swift 2005?

I have remote central locking, and just recently a loud noise has started inside of the front passenger door every time i lock my car. yesterday i unlocked my car and all doors except for the front passenger door unlocked. i am unable to manually unlock the lock from the inside aswell! does anyone have any ideas of what may be wrong? i have checked the battery inside of my remote and that is all good.|||Sounds like you have a problem where the electronic solenoid attaches to the door lock mechanism. The actuator may have come adrift or broken away. You might be able to wind the window all the way down and try to access the lock actuator from the gap at the top of the door, sometimes removing the external weatherstrip can improve access and basically try to break into your own car.

Ive seen this happen before and the guy had to tear into the inside door panel to gain access to the internal door lock mechanism.

Good luck

Car wont start or central locking wont work?

it was temprimental for a while, i had to wait until the emobaliser light went out before it would start, now it will not start atoll and the central locking will not work. it is not the battery because the lights and radio still work|||It could still be the battery, cars need some voltage but primarily rely on amperage to start. My car boot does not open with the central locking key this is mercedes e270 what is the problem?

Bad key? Bad lock?

Someone will have to diagnose the problem to know for sure.|||Unlock or open specifically?

There's a number of possible solutions to this or what it could be depending upon the specific spec/age of your E class. So I'll try and cover all of them.

Has it ever opened, rather than unlock, with the remote?

If it has opened using a specific button on your remote then try changing the batteries in the remote. If this doesn't work then there is a problem with the system. Or some security setting is in play (see below).

If it is supposed to unlock, but not open, with all of the other doors, then is your system in the mode that requires one press to unlock the driver door and then a second press to unlock the rest. 2 presses are required to unlock the boot.

If this still doesn't unlock the boot with all of the other doors then you may have to try different lock positions. This is done by inserting the key physically in the boot lock and trying it in all of the positions where it allows you to remove the key after doing so. Many boot locks have a setting to allow you to set them independently of the central locking system. Difficult to describe without a diagram but it may be horizontal key position. Just try all that it lets you do.

This may also be a solution if you do have a boot button on your remote.

There could also be something resembling a catch that has to be physically switched, something like a child lock catch, on the boot catch. Many manufacturers offer extra security facilities on boots with central locking systems to prevent boot raiding when waiting at lights.

I'm sure you will be able to find some solution in all this. Either that or decide that you need something fixing.|||could be same as bmw's different button on key fob opens the boot

Any ideas about central locking on an 02 Clio Expression?

Both the keys for my clio have started playing up and dont always open or lock my car. I got a new battery put in one however its still a bit hit or miss!

However when i lock my car using the actual key it doesnt lock all the doors - i found this a touch strange as it has remote central locking so why isnt the central locking working? The button inside to lock the doors works fine so im baffled as to why its not working.

Has anyone had this problem or know whats causing it and how to repair it? Advice on the keys would be great as well.

Thanks|||Most car companies use the driver's door lock as a switch for the central locking.

Renault don't - they fit a separate switch on the dashboard (probably low on the central console, has a picture of a padlock on it).

Therefore, if you lock/unlock the car with the key, you only lock or unlock that one door. You need to use the internal switch or the remote to operate the central locking.|||It may be as simple as the key fob battery needs changing. But being that both keys don't work you should just take it to the dealer and they will sort it. Normally its a prob with the setting of the car security electrcs. All they will do is reset it for you and it should work fine.

Synchronising remote central locking, seat arosa?

Hi,

Remote central locking on the Misses Arosa has stopped working... I have replaced the battery and gone through the Sync process as described in the manual, but still not working. Any ideas?

I have checked that the battery is ok (getting the flashing light on key plus tested the batt in another key for my car), so that is fine, also checked fuses in car, central locking all works fine when turning key...just not remote.

Suspect something to do with the sync, but not sure. Thanking you in anticipation|||If the process in the manual is not working then you will need a Seat dealer to sort it for you.

Central locking on cars........ can you get a similar type of lock for your house front door?

It's possible they are sold for residential application, though I haven't seen one yet.

The "monitoring" might not strictly be neccesary, but certainly in a commercial sense there are varieties. One on my job sites uses a Mag Lock system, but has to be activated with a "FOB" (key) scanned over a sensor. The locking mechanism itself is pretty simple; just an electro magnet/plate, approx. 3 x 6? That has been as effective as any I've seen.

Certainly there might also be garage door opener types, or servo motor types, as well, but I can't see the economy in any. Beyond that, any system that depends on electricity would depend on that electricty being "ON" 24/7. In the case of many systems, you might either have NO access, if "locks" remained so, in a power failure, OR, your House would be completely UN locked in any power outages.

Then one more, which I find totally inefficient/ Key card keys, as used in hotels.

Of course you could spend more and get a Finger print scanner device, or a retinal scanner.

On a light hearted note, related to the future of technology, there was a recent TV ad that showed Voice activation technology, not yet available. The fun example was a young lady, arms full, hand holding a cup of beverage, apparently going to work, saying "Doors Open". Of course they didn't and the coffee ended up on the young lady who ended up spilled onto the entry walk.

Steven Wolf|||Don't be so lazy.|||lol good question get inventing one mate|||Yes you can, I saw one in B%26amp;Q (Home Depot to the US) on Friday.|||Yes but is not economic for the average person as it will required a paid monitoring station, because if you forget your password or come home for one too many how are you going to enter. You can use a key but what if you loose it? You will need to re key the whole house. Malls, food stores, and many large stores use central lock systems but they also have the money to do it.|||Don't know but that is a brilliant idea..if you manufacture one then i would be a customer!

A couple of questions

You do not say how many keys you have and if this problem is with one or both of them?

If you can check in your owners Manual if you have one

Did this start happening after you changed the Fob Battery?

If yes.

1, You may have had the battery out to long ((My Vectra has Max of 30 Seconds) If this is the problem the spare should still work) so it has now got to be Re-matched to the Car, Sit in car, Doors shut, Switch On ignition (You now have 10 Seconds) and press either Lock or Unlock button on the Fob and release. If the Central Locking now cycles by locking and unlocking the doors you have fixed it.

2, You may have dropped the chip from inside the Fob (If this is the problem the spare should still work) You will need to get the Fob re-chipped.

If you have done nothing and this started unexpectedly then check the Central Locking Main fuse Mine is by itself and 30 Amp rated on the Fuse Box inside the car, Central Locking will still work on key but that should also switch off the alarm.

In either case the Immobiliser will not be affected as that is on a different system and is switched off when you push key into the ignition and is not part of the chip system.

Hope this helps

Where can I get the central locking on my car repaired today (Sunday)?

I have a Nissan Micra and can't get the doors to lock. The key fob won't do anything, however when I'm inside the car I can lock all the doors by pressing the lock/unlock button beside the hand brake. Last night my husband tried to lock it using the key fob, it eventually locked but then it wouldn't open! Finally got it opened by using the key in the secret keyhole thingy that I foud when reading through the manual. The battery was changed in the key fob just last week. Also there is a little red light that flashes on the fob when pressed, maybe its always been there and I've never noticed. Anyone any ideas please??|||Sounds like you need a new key. Can you get replacement central locking fobs for cars?

Citroen Saxo Can anyone help with central locking?

Car locks fine. But when you unlock it, it locks itself straight away. Does this with the key fob, with the key in the lock and when unlocking with door pin. |||98% you do not have any faults with your central locking. If you did then you would be having problems both locking and unlocking your car.

This is a very common classic saxo problem, as any decent mechanic can tell you.

What has happened to your car is that the actual handle mechanism is starting to freeze up due to corrosion on its return spring. This causes it not to return its link rod to the locking mechansim to its full stop position, so the lock thinks that someone is trying to open that door handle all the time.

This problem can be fixed with no new parts and without removing any of the door cards. (besides, only an idiot would remove all the door cards just to find the fault!).

The handles can be removed from the outside by drilling out the rivets that hold them, prise them up and out from the car and then unclip the link rod to the lock. Then spray the handle pivot with copious amounts of WD40 and repeatedly open and close it a LOT of times. Eventually it will spring closed by itself when you open it (i know it already does this on the car, but it is not the handle spring but rather the lock spring that is doing this. Once you remove the handle from the car you will see that when opened it does not spring back.) Once the handle can spring closed by itself you should coat the pivot and spring with copper grease and refit with new rivets.

To give you an indication I can remove the rear door handles in 16 seconds and the front ones in just under 1 minute (they are slightly more awkward). The rear handles are usually the first ones to give bother as they are used the least.|||Hi

One of your central locking units is faulty,to find out which one it is you will need to remove all the door cards and unplug them one at a time till it locks and stays locked, sometimes when you have a fault with central locking you can hear the faulty lock operating it will keep clicking

Hope this helps

Do I have any rights if my car was falsely advertised with central locking ?

I would have thought I'd have some kind of rights but my worry is iv now had the car for 7months. Give this a try if you are cheap (like me) and don't want to shell out for a new actuator.

(This is made a lot easier with a Haynes manual)

1) Remove the door panel

2) Remove the door lock positioning element

3) On the top you will see a couple wires going into a switch, the switch needs to come out (this is the door locking micro switch) one contact controls "lock" and the other controls "unlock"

4) Check the conductivity of both contacts with an ohm meter

5) If there is no conductivity when you lightly press either of the switches you found your problem.

6) The switch can be further disassembled to expose the tiny spring contacts, give them a shot a break cleaner then some WD-40

7)Celebrate your savings with a cold beer (Or drink of choice)

This fixed mine and I have had no problems since.

Otherwise RAC or AA.

You should not have accepted the car with the faults - they now have your money and you have a broken car - if they decide not to bother the only thing you can do is get someone else to fix it and then take them to court to try to get a County Court Judgement to force them to pay you. Central Locking Has Stopped Working On Corsa - Can't Lock Car?

I flattened my battery dead today by leaving the lights on. I got a jumpstart and it started ok, but I did notice a strange whirring noise. Anyway, now I can't lock the car at all. The key goes in, but won't turn at all to the right to centrally lock.

I've checked fuses, which seem ok. Could it have burnt the locking system out? or could it be to do with the battery being flattened?

It's S reg.|||it isnt the central locking system each door has its own motor for locking so they wouldnt burn out at the same time its got to be the battery it sounds like a problem with the altenator which should charge the battery when the engine is running its that or a duff battery wont be that costly|||i flattened the battery on my n reg corsa a few weeks ago, had to drive 30 miles home, with the constant loud shrieking. yes the battery needs to be fully charged before the central locking will work again, a good guide to charging a battery back to full charge, is to ride around for about 30 minutes, and not use anything electrical in the car, this way the battery charges quicker.|||The battery needs to be fully charged for the central locking to work, I imagine it hasnt got enough charge. Lock all the doors individually and put the battery on charge overnight.|||take your car to aUTO ZONE AND THEY WILL CHECK YOUR BATTERY FOR FREE THEY WILL BRING THE UNIT OUT AND HOOK IT UP.ALSO ASK IF THE CCA WHICH MEANS COLD CRANKING AMPS ARE FINE.BE SMART LET THEM DO THE WORK AND FOR FREE TOO.EMAIL ME IF YOU NEED MORE.

Why Does my central locking actavate when i simply close the door sometimes?

i have a corsa 95 and sometimes when i close the drivers door the central locking engages locking the car, its really annoying as i might lock my keys in there one day, can anyone help|||Probably the best thing to do is pull off the door card and check the wires on the central locking, probably a wire is coming into contact with the door when you slam it shut.

Ja.|||It's probably a bad switch in the door that causes this problem, assuming it's only one door that causes this, or a short in the door wiring. I'm betting it's the switch. but it could be wither. You'll probably have to take the interior door panel off to check. You can try gently tapping the switch or around the switch with your fist or palm before you take everything apart. Also, if you can remove the shield that protects the wiring from the frame of the car to the door where the hinges are, give those wires a good shake and see if that causes the doors to lock. Very simple circuit to troubleshoot.|||I believe it is a setting that can be changed. Either that, or you are hitting the button when you put the keys in your pocket?

10 POINTS how much does a central locking remote BATTERY cost?

My car locks sometimes work sometimes dont with the remote. They work manually with key and since I only replaced the central locking system at the beginning of the year am hoping its just the battery|||Depends on the battery itself.

CAN A MARUTI ALTO LXI CAR BE FITTED WITH CENTRAL LOCKING SYSTEM AND POWER WINDOWS?

yes why not..|||yes u can ... easily too ... if u want an affordable ..chinese cetral locking u can get it for about 2000- 7000 depending on the different fuctions and variants (micro sensors, shock ssensors, approximity e.t.c) than if u get it installed by a professional, costs r highly dependent on ur bargaining and social skills :) its generaly sumthing lyk 2000 on average. now the part sum people have trouble with is power windows .... as they try getting the motors, belt, frames and everthing else installed in the existing door panels.... which is the wrong way of doing it ... the right way is to buy the whole door panels or even the whole doors (by trading ur old ones in which r always on demand) and getting them installed, u can even do this by ur self if u r a tech sortcauze all u have to do is to screw out the old panels and screw in the new ones ... :) ... simple as cake it the parts in this method will cost u roughly the same amount as if u buy individual parts for each door but this method will save u alot of money on the labour side of things.... so go look for japanese alto door panels, u can probably get them from maruti suuki people them self.|||Yes of course. Central locking: You can buy cheap chinese make (Rs 1,500/-) or expensive ones 4-5000/-with burglar alarm. Power windows is more costly as it requires motors with arms in each window and master control on the driver side door. Better avoid this wasteful expenditure.Best wishes|||no the maruti alto lxi is not be fitted with the central locking system and power windows|||Yes, definitely.|||sure|||YUP!!!!!!!!

Is there any auto electricicians out there who could help with a central locking prob on a Citroen xsara.?

I have replaced drivers door solonoid and repaired 2 broken wires, but it is still doing strange things eg it unlocks itself or it wont lock or the car locks when I close the drivers door or sometimes it locks itself , all these things apply whether I use the key or the remote, please help the wifes driving me nuts she wants her locking sorted.|||I can only say that some problems are best left to others and this is one of them.

Get a autoelectrician out and take the wife for a meal.

I'm a mechanic and know what you are going through.

Give up mate!!!!!!!!!!!|||i think you have a big problem ,labor wise,,

anyway ,,this is only an educated guess, there is a sensor somewhere around the door key cylinder or solenoid that is out of adjustment,or shorted,,

some time the module that control that circuit is about to get bad, i assume the wire that you repair is OK re check if possible around that area,,

yes you really need a good auto electrician ,get the one that is familiar with that type of car..|||i had the same prob with my c5 almost turned out to be a solenoid take it to a Citroen dealer it will be cheaper in the long run|||There are many different possible reasons why there could be this problem, my advice would be to take it to an auto electrician. Otherwise if you try to do it yourself, you are looking at a major job.

Central locking for a two door car...?

I have a ford Ka :) my first car! and i love it! but i would like to install a central locking as im gunna be giving people lifts alot and its just easier if i had that and cool to have :) How much would it roughly cost? and for fitting do you think? Were would i purchase this as well? In the UK. Thanks!|||Your best bet would be to purchase a decent aftermarket alarm and get the installer to put a remote lock solenoid in the doors at the same time.

The parts used to be fairly cheap, but fitting them can be a real ball-ache and these things are only as good as their installation is. If you bodge it, they'll play up something chronic.

Halfords used to be able to get the bits in, but any decent Car Audio Security shop will be able to help.

Should I go for central locking system in my car, when I have immobilizer fitted into it already?

Central Locking System is for openning and closing the doors of the car altogether in just one click of a button or turn of a key

An immobiliser or immobilizer is an electronic device fitted to an automobile which prevents the engine from running unless the correct key (or other token) is present. This prevents the car from being "hot wired" after entry has been achieved.

just try installing a car alarm and that`s it............................

My '93 Nissan Sunny central locking won't work...can open passenger door independantly but can't open driver's

No probs to date, but yeaterday when I returned to car, central locking wouldn't work...cud open passsenger door with key, but not the other three...any help greatlly appreciated x|||From what I can remember most sunny's have a single point central locking system...this means that there is a switch in the drivers door and slave motors in the other three ..so if you open the drivers door with the key all you are doing is moving the switch from open to close...which in turn sends a lock or unlock pulse to the c/locking relay...which in turn controls the motors in the other doors.....so

1 check the c/locking fuse in the fuse box...poss drivers kick well...if it is ok .....number 2

2 find the c/locking relay and hold it to see if it is clicking when you lock and unlock with the key in the drivers door..you might need someonr to help unless you have realy long arms..if it is clicking then the switch and relay are ....ok if not number 3

3 If the above have been carried out and all seems ok with them ,take it to a garage or someone who is ok with car electrics

Any cheap, reliable deals available ? I live in west london.

Thanks|||This wont be cheap im afraid, i used to cringe when i worked at renault and had to charge people for a new key and coding it.

Firstly they will have to order the key and blade from France, youre looking at 10 working days for it to arrive, then they will book your car in so that they can cut the blade and code it to the car, which will take approx an hrs labour time....the key itself about 拢150-拢200 and then coding it to the car - 1 hrs labour, approx 拢60-拢90, totalling anywhere from 拢200 - 拢300 im afraid. Totally shocking i know, hence why i used to cringe when i gave the invoice!|||You not only have to program the key to your central locking you also need to program it for the immobiliser, this is almost impossible as it generates a new number each time you put the key in the ignition. Start with the maker of the car, then try the scrap yards and ask for the item as a central locking relay for a (year of your car) (make of your car) (model of your car).

How do i disconnect central locking on a vw fox.?

When we try to start the car we have to lock and unlock or the car wont start. The central locking is hooked up to the immobiliser and alarm and we want to get rid of it. For the last week we have to try up to 100 times before the car recognises the signal from the remote before we can get in.|||Have you tried new batteries in the remote? Also try reprogramming the key fob from the car manual. as previously stated its all part of the security system of the car and cant be overridden.hope this helps|||The whole thing is integrated into the cars electronic systems and cannot be disconnected on its own - the thing needs to be properly fixed.

Does any body know how to do the central locking in a car its difficult or not please tell me?

Don't try this at home...that stuff is best left to a good mechanic as there are a gazillion ways to screw it up.

How do you fix a cars central locking?

My BMW Mini One's central locking has started to go, not just using the button on the key but also by opening the door handles from inside the car and by using the switch on the control panel inside the car.

Is this a garage job or is it possible to fix yourself, I know nothing about cars but can't afford an expensive car bill.

Does anyone know if I will still be able to manually unlock everything if I can't fix it. The car only has one key lock, on the drivers door. When you turn the key in this door it also unlocks the passenger door / boot / petrol flap but I am not sure if turning the key in the drivers door is triggering the central locking to unlock the other things therefore if it goes I won't be able to open the petrol cap, boot etc.

Only other problem I can think of is at the moment the car is set to automatically lock when you drive off, is this feature possible to turn off yourself or would I have to take it to Mini?|||It's typical of european cars, one action to lock/unlock everything that use lock system. To turn off lock on certain speed, you need to remove the sensor speedometer, but this isn't safe anymore. To set the door lock only lock on manual action, you need to release the wire connection on mototr on the door lock switch. You can do this job on your own if you have experience and passion. If you doubt you have those condition, you can start by read on manual repair biook that been release by Hayne's or Chillton.

Car does not lock with remote after driving ,have to wait 20mints and the central locking will operate?

what could be the fault|||It sounds like it is time to change the battery in the remote control.|||the usual problem with central remote locking is jamming locks in the doors.

there are "solenoids" that operate the locks when you click the zapper dodad.. but if dirt in the locks etc is making resistance the solenoids sense the resistance and refuse to open.

maybe the jiggling of driving makes the jamming worse in your case. In addition to the above, its possible one of the wires to the solenoids has a loose or dirty connection.

I suggest you take the front door trim panels off and spray some WD40 (water repellant light oil in a spray can.. ) onto the locks and levers. WD40 won't effect the electrics. Check the mechanisms for free movement. While you have the mechanism visible operate the door clicker doodad and see that everything is working smooth. Let the WD40 flow a bit from its spray can so that it flushes dirt out of the locks.

Unplug the wires a few times and reconnect them. If anything looks loose, replace or solder it. If any of the plastic bushes or metal rods look damaged.. repair or replace them,

If the central lock operates the back doors, do the above to them as well.

In all the above operations, check that the solenoids operate freely and consistently. Door solenoids are probably about $80 each at a wreckers yard if yours look a bit suss..

Even if the problem is as simple as a new little battery required for a clicker ( which I doubt very much since it would be really really weird for that to cause a fault that happens only after you drive the car! ).. the above procedure is normally required in a central locking system as a service item ( lubricate and check )..

Most of the joints are plastic bushes with metal rods, so just zapping with WD40 to get crap out is enough. But smearing a bit of "dry lube" or white grease in the mechanisms in addition.. isn't such a bad idea. Dont get too liberal with grease stuff however since it attracts and holds dirt and might jam the mechanism again even quicker!

How can i repair the central locking on my renault clio so the boot locks as well as the doors?

When i lock my car (an 02 reg Renault Clio) using the central locking system the doors lock but the boot remains unlocked. Central remote locking for my car?

Has anyone else had there car/van broke into by a device which opens the Central locking/?

twice now my car has been broke into by some parasite who has a device which basically open my car the same way as if they have the central locking remote.. no damage .. no forced entry.. it just opens and the alarm is also de activated.. has this happened to anyone else or have you heard of the gizmo which does this?|||Are you sure it actually locked in the first place, some thieves are using a wireless doorbell to jam the signal from your key, in effect you think the remote locking has worked but it has been jammed by the thief who is in close proximity to your car usually within 10 meters. The best way to to counter this is to physically check that the car is locked.

My car has remote central locking locking, why not my house?

Seriously, cars from about 拢6000 new have this, my house is worth at least that, why isn't it fitted? It can't be a legal thing because cars worth millions have it too. it would help, i can never find my keys (so key-less entry) and in the dark, i can't find the hole (no pun intended)|||Thats funny. I just thought the same thing the other day when I used the remote to open the garage. It would be so much easier. Invent it please|||They already make similar systems for commercial applications. In my building at work, I just wave my ID badge in front of a sensor that detects the badge and unlocks the door. I'm sure they could install a similar system in a residence. But, it would be pretty expensive, especially if you had to retrofit all the wiring in.

Also, a lot of people have their garages attached to their houses, to where they can just walk into their houses from the garage. The guy across the street from me never uses his front door. He just keeps his garage clicker on his keychain and uses the automatic opener to go in and out of his house through the garage.|||You will have to wire the entire house as it is being constructed. I believe such systems have been invented but are so expensive they are only in the highest-end custom-built "smart" houses (i.e. the $10 million %26amp; up sort of house). If you can invent a cheaper way of doing it, or invent a way to retrofit the house, you might have a money maker. Vw polo. I'm locked out of my car. central locking possible failure?

the key will not open the doors or the boot. I think it's a problem with the central locking. would really appreciate some advice|||A neighbour had a Beamer with same problem. There should be a routine to help in this situation. With his it involved the passenger side front door. Insert key, turn to front of car, push in door knob or lift door handle, whilst holding position of door knob or handle turn key to rear of car: door should open! It took some WD 40 in the lock as well and a few tries but it did work! Maybe VW's have a similar procedure? The hand book of the Beamer gave us the clue, have you access to a car handbook, it might tell you what to do. I hope this helps, post more if you want clarification. Regards AJ.

Can anyone recommend a smaller power source than a car battery to use central locking?

I need to use a car central locking mechanism for something other than a car and require a power source smaller than a car battery. Any ideas?|||A car battery is big because it must supply the starter motor about 100 amps. The current draw is small for your application, so any battery, or set of batteries, at least the size of a D cell that, when put in series, add up to 12 volts will do. Try Radio Shack or Batteries Plus or whatever electronics shop is in your area, or search the web for a battery cassette that will let you wire it up for D cells. If you want something rechargable, you can use a small lead-acid gell cell or two in series to get 12 volts. They come about the size of a deck of cards.|||No|||Flashlight batteries develop 1.5 volts per cell. You can place 8 cells in series to obtain 12 volts. You can choose AAA, AA, C or D cells to obtain the size you want and put two (or more) sets of 8 cells in parallel to extend life. You may also try rechargeable cells but check total voltage of pack to be close to 12 volts. Of course if the lock is constantly in use batteries may not last long enough.|||Try a 12amp....|||i don't believe you can just pick a different power source for a central locking mechanism other than what that locking mechanism requires. i mean if you bought a central locking device that was purposely manufactured for cars that have a 12-volt battery, then 12 volts of electrical power is what that device requires in order for it to work properly.

if you want to use a lower/smaller power supply source, you have to find and buy a central locking device that was not designed to work on cars.

How could I fix the locking problem on my car?

I have just bought a Golf Mark 3 TDI 1996 reg, but the central locking system locks the car whenever the back passenger doors are opened.

Thanks in advance|||You door micro switch has gone out. This tells the car or CCM (comfort control module) that the door is closed. The CCM will not let you lock the car with the key, and by pressing the button inside should lock all doors but the drivers. You will need to replace your door lock module.

Here is a DIY thread somewhat explaining the door lock module, and how to replace it. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id鈥?/a>

2nd car key won't work central locking?

Car is a Renault Laguna Estate S reg.

1st key works fine for the central locking. 2nd key doesn't. Was never used, and has never had a battery in it.

How can I get it to work, without spending much or nothing?|||Hello

If you mean as a remote?

Insert new battery and close

Sit in car close doors and put key in ignition.

Turn ignition On (Not start)

You have Max 10 Secs to press and release Lock or Unlock button.

Door locks should cycle to show key is now matched to the car remote system.

If you mean as a Physical key then take to a Key cutter, Most big supermarkets have them these days and ask them to check it.

Or get out a fine file or Emery Paper (Wet and Dry) and try taking off any high points.

Andy C|||i think you have a key that needs a little filing ,take it to a locksmith ,and he will see if there is any small differences between the keys|||It Could be like a lot of car manufacturers today the key memory needs re programming via the deal;ers computer and the manufacturers computers|||Fit a new battery and try the key again .

How to disconnect a car battery before going for a vacation - so that central locking is still active?

the locks are not electrically operated the central locking merely opens and closes them disconnecting the battery when the doors are locked will leave them locked and even more secure since then only a key will open them|||If you're not going to be on vacation for very long, say over 30 days, I'd leave the battery connected. The reason for this is that the computer in your car will have to "relearn" your driving habits all over again once the battery is reconnected upon your return. All electronic memories like your radio functions and any other settings will have to be reprogrammed. It's not that big of a deal, but there's really no purpose in disconnecting the battery for up to 30 days. The car's electrical systems will not draw much energy from the battery. Any alarm system you likely have on the car will also not be working. The main thing is, enjoy your well deserved vacation and don't worry about the battery running down. Good luck with your decision!|||There is no way you can accomplish this unless you rewire the locking mechanism to the battery separetely|||Just take the negative (black) cabble off.. But make sure it isn't going to ground out on anything, very important.. But yeah you cant keep just the locks powerd up, use the key.|||You can't. Central Locking needs power to function|||battery must be connected of else central locking will be disabled|||Just take off one or both cables and use the key to lock the doors.

Why on my picasso car on the central locking will all the doors open but for one?

If its on a frequently used door...Normally the drivers, constant opening and closing can cause broken wires in the rubber sleeve from the doorframe to the door, thus rejoining or cutting and rejoining usually fixes the problem...I had this on a toyota..regards..Den|||because the solenoid in the door needs replaced....or has become disconnected|||THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH MANY VEHICLES, FIRST CHECK TO SEE IF THE DOOR THAT IS HAVING PROBLEMS AS A GOOD GROUND AND HOT FOR THE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY AND IF NOT REPLACE IT.

THIS MOST LIKELY WAS CAUSED BY CORROSION SO CHECK IF THE RUBBER BOOT IS IN GOOD SHAPE THAT PROTECTS THE ACTUATOR.|||could be anything from a broken wire to faulty lock check that you are getting power to solenoid in the affected door first then if your are check for a good earth then replace solenoid|||try the door relay in the fuse box or door|||the door that does not open will have a faulty lock solenoid.|||ITS KEEPING UP WITH NAME SAKE ONLY HAD ONE EAR

Only one indicator light flashing when I use the central locking on my car?

You know when you lock/unlock your car remotely with the central locking, and the indicators flash?

Well only one side on mine is doing it and it's kinda giving me the shits cause I've put a fair bit of work into my car.

I've checked that both sides work when I indicate, and both sides work when I use the hazard light... Just not with the central locking?!?!?!

It's probably something simple but I just can't think of what it is??

Any suggestions would be tops, thanks!!|||If both sides work when you signal and all your hazards work, then don't worry about it.

There is a receiver inside your vehicle somewhere that your remote sends the signal to. It's usually under the dash. If it really bothers you that much, find the little box wherever it is and double check that all the connections are tight. Pretty much the only thing I can think of. Unless your particular remote locking model does that as an indication something is wrong. Might want to read the manual.

Is it your signal lights that flash when you push the button, or the main headlights? Could just be a burned out bulb.

EDIT: Drake that is funny crap.|||Or it could be like most alarms and uses the parking lights not the turn signal lights as an indicator. If it is indeed hooked up to your turn signal bulbs the install shop is a bunch of idiots. You have a burn`t out bulb on whatever side does not work|||if you push button one time it only unlocks and blinks the drivers side. push it twice and it will unlock all doors and blink all lights|||Ah, sounds like you need to refill/top up you central locking indicator fluid.

Hi.i just bought a Vuxhall astra estate and this car doesnt have central locking is it possible to get fitted?

please let me know.tank u|||hi... lots of stuff available in most halfords, motorworld.. etc... vauxhall will do it also but it'll be costly with them..!!!|||Call round some alarm fitters as they can do it. The motors for the door locks etc dont need to be oem. Aftermarket bits will work fine.|||Cheaper to buy another car with it fitted....its a very big job to change all the door locks, wiring if not fitted as standard ect...

Does a fuel pump run on the same fuse as the central locking on your car?

Normally they don't, unless it has been messed up. Comfort and engine functions are usually kept apart.|||You would hope not. I've heard Dodge runs stupid unrelated stuff together though so if you have a dodge maybe.|||I will have to say no most cars and trucks have a one set fuse for a fuel pump|||Not normally.

Fuel pump has a dedicated circuit on all vehicles we have seen.|||You must have fuel pump and lock problems by the way you worded your question. The 2 are definitely on separate circuits with separate fuses. The only possibility of the two problems being related to a common repair would be a major wiring harness problem which is highly unusual. Your owners manual and or the fuse box cover should have a fuse diagram telling you what fuses are related to what components they protect on your vehicle.|||Well everyone is going towards knowing that the items are usually on separate circuits, but.

But the only thing that these two circuits have in common is that they both are part of the alarm circuit.

You might of locked your car on the last of the batteries' life then unlocked the car by key because the keypad was not working. The alarm/security system shuts off the fuel pump via keypad/fob and also locks the doors. Take it to a dealer if it has a factory security system, tow it in. Or if the security system is store bought/installed take it to the place of purchase.|||More than likely not. You'll have to consult with the owners manual to find out for sure. But I hope not!

Do all ford central locking remotes work with other fords if reprogrammed by the doner car?

i have a ford scorpio and was wondering could i use any ford central locking remote to reprogramme to my scorpio as mine is faulty and dosent seen to want to work anymore thanks to all in advance|||No they change the systems over time so it is likely that ones from the Scorpio era may work or maybe only Scorpio ones.

Central locking stopped working in car?

audio and central locking just stopped working in my suzuki ignis car, can any one help or is it going to be a costly trip to the mecanic? thanks in advance

i have changed fuse and the audio appears to be fixed but once i turn the engine it goes off again, thinking fuse blew ...happened a few times now. with the central locking, havent tried anything yet as it only happened this morning.|||Do you have a phone charger or something similiar plugged into cig lighter? It does suggest a blown fuse as it fixes it until it turn the ignition on. Have seen similiar problems and that has been the cause. Worse case could be BCM (body control module) which could be 2-300 quid. But that's worse case. Haven't seen anything too common come through warranty.|||if you asked the Suzuki dealer nicely "in your experience, have you heard of this happening?" "is it a common problem?" they might tell you what causes it. y'know, polite, friendly, flattering their expertise etc.|||Fuses are designed to blow when there is a fault. No point just changing the fuse without fixing the fault which could be aywhere in the Audio and central locking systems.

Where i could find remote central locking for my Honda city i-vtec model?

I have a Honda City 2009 model. It is a basic model and hav "manual" central locking. I just want a simple device which can be fitted in my car and i can operate my car's central locking through remote. Thats it.|||You can go for any anti auto theft fittings like Auto cop which will siren during any passive entry. Still you will have to have the original key since the Honda City i-vtec is having immobiliser system and it gets armed only with the original key.

Can you get a new car key or remote central locking for a used car?

I purchased an old used car and the car keys are bent and buckled to the point it wont last very long so I wondering who I should see to get a replacement key and how long it takes and how much will it cost ALSO

The remote central locking and key comes in 2 seperate parts and not as in built in remote central locking key like cars today.

The remote central locking is separate from the car key itself so its annoying having to carry the remote central locking part that opens the car and the car key itself to turn the car on.Its a 1994 mazda model therefore the remote central locking isnt built into the car key. I dropped the central locking part in a puddle of rain water and now its signal to the car alarm is weak so Im having trouble opening the car and stating it.

So can a remote central locking key be made even it was originally made as 2 separate parts?|||Key: any auto parts, hardware or lock shop 10min.

Remote: open it up, wipe it off, replace the battery, close it back up.

"can a remote central locking key be made even it was originally made as 2 separate parts" NO|||You can order replacement mazda car keys from amazingkeys.com. I don't know if they have the remote.

WHY WOULD INSTALLING A NEW CAR STEREO CAUSE MY HEATER, CLOCK AND CENTRAL LOCKING KEY FOB TO STOP WORKING?

I just installed a goodmans cd player into a toyota hiace van after about ten minutes it would not power up.On reading the install manual it said to switch the 12v memory power to the 12v ignition power and this should solve the problem.this did allow the stereo to work properly however now the heater, clock and central locking does not work. What would cause this problem?|||you blew a fuse (very unlikely that its a relay because none of those things work together but they could share a fuse)|||i would check the fuse box or boxe's first you may have shorted a wire

How do I find out problem about my BMW Z3. power windows, central locking will not work after I jumped the car

After jump starting my BMW Z3, the power windows, central locking will not work. Is this something I can fix myself?|||This happens from time to time, I believe it's due to a glitch in mechanism, I've had that happen on my 525 and also opening trunk internally, I'd take it to dealer get it checked as soon as your next inspection is due or oil change, I had to bear with it for some time, as I didn't have time to take it in. Problem goes away by itself, it can be at any given time. (Obviously consult your manual) Most likely it'll say to have it checked, (No time) As I said it should go away at any given moment.

I didn't fully read your question, very strange you jump started it, you are not supposed to, you would throw off the mechanism, you should've called road assistance, (should be part of the package, for a new car) otherwise could end up voiding the warranty. You might have a problem, you need to call or check for the problem at

http://www.bmwusa.com/

By the way, if this is the case, you really don't have a choice but to take it to the dealer or a BMW specialist. I know of one, where are you located?

Hope this helped.|||you gotta budget better. the shop gets the car why they are insured and if you do bad stuff to a car and anything you touch will be held against you in a court of law and the same principal apply to a car, you lucky you didn't take half the car out they factory set some stuff up to prevent theft if you have a burgler alarm you better get in to get the wires checked for ,i had to give up on it as a total loss it had a burgler alarm nott as big as my fist trapped at the rear base where there was plenty of pressure on it. the car was not designed to have a giant ball of wires trap between the block and the fire wal and it was traced to having to pull the whole sterring column out so if it run get ready to dump it if you see you really need a new harness if you have crossed wires in the burgler set up sometimes they have to put in a new starter in a car equipt with burgler stuff and they don't get the same things to happen that the other starter did.it not noticiable to anyone except under the condition that you try to jump it does the variables in where the starter came from it has ti be dead on if anything is wired different the feed back is your fried wire

there's no way out once the burgler alarm is add. you can only jump the battery or charge it when you have disconnected the cable totally away from the battery and the jumpers and or charger.. so if you open your hood and try that jumping stuff again, you'll see your harness is getting hot on the fire wall main heavy haress and could go up in smoke and fire when it burns the insulation through, you are shorted out on those pieces you said don't work know and will cause you further problems|||Unless you really want to dive into a good repair manuals electrical diagrams or you have one of those multiple hundred dollar computer diagnostic tools, you are probably not going to be able to fix it yourself. I know nobody wants to pay the exorbitant dealer repair costs, but sometimes its worth not spending countless hours of frustration.|||These guys are morons or something. That is either a blown fuse or a tripped breaker. Check your fuse panel box, on the cover it will say what each one is for. find the one that says power windows and pull it out and check it, if it's a fuse. If it's a little silver box about 1-1/4 in long, it's a breaker, and has tripped. Take it out and then put it back in,, that should clear it.

Put in a new car stereo, now central locking and interior lights and stereo have all stopped working!!!?

I have a 1993 mazda eunos 30x / mx-3... I have purchased a new aftermarket pioneer cd player and did this: I unplugged the battery and then removed the cd player and radio as specifically detailed from instructions found online. i connected the iso harness to the cd player and plugged it all back up....it worked and sounded great!!! i turned the car off and then unplugged the cd player to put in the din harness in the dash. i heard a slight spark sound when i pushed the wires to the back and so rechecked the wires and they are all protected. i pluged the cd player in, it looked awesome, turned the car back on and it would not work...

Then i pulled it all back out check the wires and accidentally hit the red and yellow wires and the interior lights and alarm lights flashed then stopped. now the lights wont go on and the central locking wont lock.?!?!?! i have check all fuses under dash and under hood, they are fine...what has happened!!!?!?!?|||i would still thinks its a fuse... use a tester on each fuse under the dash..|||the computer probably has to be reset|||i did the same thing with a 1996 grand am but it wouldnt start after words a wire must have gotten disconnected somewhere so look and make sure just the radio wires are there and nothing more..fined the acc wire with is the light dimer that hooks up to the stereo and im sure that grounded out somewere

Does my car have REMOTE central locking as standard?

Before you ask, when i brought my car it only had 1 key with it and the guy said he had lost the other one.

Specs: 99 Ford Fiesta 1.25 Zetec - V Reg.

The key I have has a RED chip on it, so i know it's the master key. A couple of people have said that if there is a infrared system above the internal lights then it should be REMOTE central locking.

If this is the case, where could i get a replacement fob/key for my car?

Thanks|||Short answer, no.

Any Ford dealer can supply a duplicate key.|||You should have got TWO keys AS WELL as the red key, so the guy lost two. You can get them cut and programmed to your car by a good vehicle locksmith (I think that age you can still program it using the red key). Don't keep using your red key as you REALLY don't want to lose or damage it as it will be very expensive to replace. Whether it is remote CL or not, Ford will be able to tell you if you call them up and give them your reg.|||Remote locking on Fords do not use infra red they use a radio code to open the doors and hatch. The red chip on it is for the immobiliser and nothing to do with central locking.|||you will need to take proof of ownership, vin# year ,make ,and model to the ford dealership parts department and they can get you one.|||Go to a ford dealership... they will tell you everything you need to know|||I just purchased 2 keys for my Toyota Landcruiser and had them coded. Goodbye 拢260 quid.|||according to parkers (see sources) your car is not fitted with remote central locking, and the only variants that were are the Zetec S (which is a 1.6) and the ghia, the top model, so i expect that this is correct, autotraders info also agree with this.

however, you do still need another key, you are putting yourself at risk of great expense because if you lose the key, not only will you need to pay a locksmith to get into the car, you will need to pay ford to disable the immobiliser (the chip in the key basically turns off the immobiliser allowing you to drive it), you would also need new locks and keys, and in the end, it would be cheaper to buy a new car. as someone said, any good locksmith should be able to do it, for example timpson's. almost anyone who does car keys will do the chips, because almost every car has had these chips in for over 10 years now.

you can either have a generic key or an original (so it says ford on it), if you want an original you will need to either go to a dealer or timpsons do offer this service at some places, it says on their website.

Is it possible to install a car alarm and central locking system seperately?

Im trying to save cost when hiring someone to install it my car alarm system. Ive been looking around and it seems that you can only get installation service if you buy the car alarm system off them which makes sense of youre trying to make good money.

so instead im thinking about:

buying a cheaper central locking system off ebay then buy a car alarm system off the installation service provider and ask them to install the central locking system I bought off ebay and the car alarm system off them.

This would save me cost of buying the central lokcing system and the car alarm itself from the installation service provider which would be really expensive.

so Is this a good idea?

ps. Im replacing my existing central locking system because I lost my central locing remote so I have to replace the whole thing.|||don't change your central locking system when the alarm is installed it will control the door locks you have and the alarms remote will function just fine even if you did not lose your original remote it would not matter once the new alarm system is installed the alarms remote will control lock and unlock functions i'd just purchase the alarm and have it installed. if you do it the way you have said you will spend a lot more money

Central Locking problem in my Car (opel)?

Hi,

I have Opel Astra 1995 1.6 G sedan type car (it's known as Vauxhall in some countries) and my car's central locking system has jammed all the doors lock except the driver's door.

I have been facing this problem earlier time to time but for very short duration and this time it's like dead lock and I am unable to open any door except the driver's door. The locks won't open even if I try the key or pull the locks from inside of car.

Is there anyway I can disable central locking completely to get rid off this?

my car has central locking already but l want to upgrade to a remote central locking.the car is a vw polo|||Does the car have an alarm? If it does, most alarm / car audio shops will be able to cut into the system and add the use of a remote aftermarket fob. If it doesn't have an alarm, it may be wise to have one fitted that'll incorporate the use of the central locking. (Not expensive to do).|||It varies by vehicle, and whether or not you are already equipped to have a remote. If you are it would just be buying and programming the remote. If not the cost would increase dramatically. If it's a newer model, it probably just means buying the remote. Ask at the dealer.|||Most places will say to fit a new remote control sysytem, wiring and alarm in one - should cost around 拢200 for a half decent setup.|||If you have a factory alarm fitted there should be provision for a dealer upgrade to fit the RCL unit.

If it's an after market alarm (someone else installed it) then some of these have provision for an RCL unit as well.

When you alarm the car with a key fob, it locks the doors as well.
