The car is rover 416|||hi there it sounds as water has got into central locking system as the central locking activates alarm when locked depending how bad river damage and how high water covered car ir could be relay or drivers door switch check your fuse box for blown fuse if not check for water at fuse box also try drying units with hairdryer hope this helps you jock|||Check that nothing is fouling propellor.|||Get the car checked out by a professional, sounds like an electrical short somewhere.|||look, no one is going to steal a rover 416... i'll bet the doors still lock manually, and an alarm can be refitted... just get a kids cycle lock, the twisted cable type, wrap it around the seat base and then thru the steering wheel... theyre very difficult to remove, and at five quid it doesnt get any cheaper...
i did this for the last 5 years on my volvo... i didnt even lock it...
