Central locking broken on car, any ideas on how to fix it?

I have a 1ltr R reg Nissan Micra which has central locking, not remote, the type that unlocks/locks all the doors when you use the key. It was working fine until a couple of days ago when it just stopped working, any ideas on how it can be fixed?|||Provided there's power in the battery and the fuses are intact, then turning the key activates a switch which causes sends an electric signal to the solenoids all the doors to open the lock.





Does the central locking work from other doors (did your Micra have this feature before the fault?) If it still works on other doors, then the switch in the drivers door has worn out through use and needs replacing. As with all electrical faults, if this isn't it, you (of an autoelectricial) will have to get "down and dirty" with your voltmeter and trace the wires and see where the breach is, and why it's not getting to the other doors.





If the cost of getting someone else to do this is not appealing, you won't do much better than spending a tenner or so on the Haynes manual for the Nissan Micra, which will help immensely with the wiring on your model.|||It's likely to be either a blown fuse or a relay, replacing it should solve the problem.|||1 - check battery of remote control

3 - check power lose from cables and wires|||does the central locking work if you insert the key into the lock and turn ? if it does it could be the battery in your key fob? if not check the fuse, this should be numbered, and shown in your owners manual|||One other thing to try is any reprogramming procedure you may find in your car owner's manual that allows you to turn the central locking on and off. I didn't like the central locking to automatically lock my car doors once I drove away, so I followed the procedure in my car manual to de-program that feature.|||if the problem is still there when you try the key in the passenger door then the fault will almost definitely be a blown fuse, check your hand book for the size and location of the fuse|||The fuse to check is F7 but I doubt if that is what is causing the problem.


You need to get the system right which means that if one of the 3 solenoids is faulty then none of it works. this involves stripping them out and bench testing them.


The most common fault is the drivers door one as it gets the most use.


Also the wires that go through the rubber conduit to the doors and boot door can break.
