CAN A MARUTI ALTO LXI CAR BE FITTED WITH CENTRAL LOCKING SYSTEM AND POWER WINDOWS?

yes why not..|||yes u can ... easily too ... if u want an affordable ..chinese cetral locking u can get it for about 2000- 7000 depending on the different fuctions and variants (micro sensors, shock ssensors, approximity e.t.c) than if u get it installed by a professional, costs r highly dependent on ur bargaining and social skills :) its generaly sumthing lyk 2000 on average. now the part sum people have trouble with is power windows .... as they try getting the motors, belt, frames and everthing else installed in the existing door panels.... which is the wrong way of doing it ... the right way is to buy the whole door panels or even the whole doors (by trading ur old ones in which r always on demand) and getting them installed, u can even do this by ur self if u r a tech sortcauze all u have to do is to screw out the old panels and screw in the new ones ... :) ... simple as cake it the parts in this method will cost u roughly the same amount as if u buy individual parts for each door but this method will save u alot of money on the labour side of things.... so go look for japanese alto door panels, u can probably get them from maruti suuki people them self.|||Yes of course. Central locking: You can buy cheap chinese make (Rs 1,500/-) or expensive ones 4-5000/-with burglar alarm. Power windows is more costly as it requires motors with arms in each window and master control on the driver side door. Better avoid this wasteful expenditure.Best wishes|||no the maruti alto lxi is not be fitted with the central locking system and power windows|||Yes, definitely.|||sure|||YUP!!!!!!!!

Is there any auto electricicians out there who could help with a central locking prob on a Citroen xsara.?

I have replaced drivers door solonoid and repaired 2 broken wires, but it is still doing strange things eg it unlocks itself or it wont lock or the car locks when I close the drivers door or sometimes it locks itself , all these things apply whether I use the key or the remote, please help the wifes driving me nuts she wants her locking sorted.|||I can only say that some problems are best left to others and this is one of them.

Get a autoelectrician out and take the wife for a meal.

I'm a mechanic and know what you are going through.

Give up mate!!!!!!!!!!!|||i think you have a big problem ,labor wise,,

anyway ,,this is only an educated guess, there is a sensor somewhere around the door key cylinder or solenoid that is out of adjustment,or shorted,,

some time the module that control that circuit is about to get bad, i assume the wire that you repair is OK re check if possible around that area,,

yes you really need a good auto electrician ,get the one that is familiar with that type of car..|||i had the same prob with my c5 almost turned out to be a solenoid take it to a Citroen dealer it will be cheaper in the long run|||There are many different possible reasons why there could be this problem, my advice would be to take it to an auto electrician. Otherwise if you try to do it yourself, you are looking at a major job.

Central locking for a two door car...?

I have a ford Ka :) my first car! and i love it! but i would like to install a central locking as im gunna be giving people lifts alot and its just easier if i had that and cool to have :) How much would it roughly cost? and for fitting do you think? Were would i purchase this as well? In the UK. Thanks!|||Your best bet would be to purchase a decent aftermarket alarm and get the installer to put a remote lock solenoid in the doors at the same time.

The parts used to be fairly cheap, but fitting them can be a real ball-ache and these things are only as good as their installation is. If you bodge it, they'll play up something chronic.

Halfords used to be able to get the bits in, but any decent Car Audio Security shop will be able to help.

Should I go for central locking system in my car, when I have immobilizer fitted into it already?

Central Locking System is for openning and closing the doors of the car altogether in just one click of a button or turn of a key

An immobiliser or immobilizer is an electronic device fitted to an automobile which prevents the engine from running unless the correct key (or other token) is present. This prevents the car from being "hot wired" after entry has been achieved.

just try installing a car alarm and that`s it............................

My '93 Nissan Sunny central locking won't work...can open passenger door independantly but can't open driver's

No probs to date, but yeaterday when I returned to car, central locking wouldn't work...cud open passsenger door with key, but not the other three...any help greatlly appreciated x|||From what I can remember most sunny's have a single point central locking system...this means that there is a switch in the drivers door and slave motors in the other three ..so if you open the drivers door with the key all you are doing is moving the switch from open to close...which in turn sends a lock or unlock pulse to the c/locking relay...which in turn controls the motors in the other doors.....so

1 check the c/locking fuse in the fuse box...poss drivers kick well...if it is ok .....number 2

2 find the c/locking relay and hold it to see if it is clicking when you lock and unlock with the key in the drivers door..you might need someonr to help unless you have realy long arms..if it is clicking then the switch and relay are ....ok if not number 3

3 If the above have been carried out and all seems ok with them ,take it to a garage or someone who is ok with car electrics

good luck and i hope this helps....fuse ,switch then relay|||hi if you put your key in the car and turn the keys so the ignotion lights come on sometimes you can press the keys lock / unlock buttons and it resets the central locking, it works on my vectra|||where u based hun?...cud fix it for say 20 notes?

I have lost my car key ( Renault) How to make a new one? I do have a spare key but itsnt with central locking.?

Any cheap, reliable deals available ? I live in west london.

Thanks|||This wont be cheap im afraid, i used to cringe when i worked at renault and had to charge people for a new key and coding it.

Firstly they will have to order the key and blade from France, youre looking at 10 working days for it to arrive, then they will book your car in so that they can cut the blade and code it to the car, which will take approx an hrs labour time....the key itself about 拢150-拢200 and then coding it to the car - 1 hrs labour, approx 拢60-拢90, totalling anywhere from 拢200 - 拢300 im afraid. Totally shocking i know, hence why i used to cringe when i gave the invoice!|||You not only have to program the key to your central locking you also need to program it for the immobiliser, this is almost impossible as it generates a new number each time you put the key in the ignition. You will have to bite the bullet and get down to a Renault garage for them to make a key for you.. you'll be looking at 拢150.. please don't blame me,i'm only telling the truth|||Hi,to get another car key you need to go an duplicate the old ones you have.simply take the old one to the nearest area they will duplicate it within 2minutes.From JOHN OLADELE FEMI.Nigeria ondo state e-mail;johnoladele25@yahoo.co.uk|||You can buy any key head or fob off Ebay or similar %26amp; program them to your car - the instructions for doing so should be in your owner's handbook.|||No cheap deals with car keys, go to you Renault dealer who can get a new key cut for you, there not expensive.|||Hopefully your car is not that too old. Hey any body knows where to get the central locking relay 46426365 A 727 661 12V 46426365?

car central locking|||I would try an Import parts store or here is one on Ebay.|||Hello

Start with the maker of the car, then try the scrap yards and ask for the item as a central locking relay for a (year of your car) (make of your car) (model of your car).

For example I would ask for a central locking relay for a 97 Vauxhall Vectra.

The average Halfords may stock it but they would look it up as it may have a different part number.

Andy C|||It's obsolete. No one makes a replacement.

.......................... and I just found out why. That's a FIAT part number ! ! ! FIAT hasn't been in North America for years.

Does anyone know where the central locking solenoid is located?

Hi all, I have a car locking problem and I have been informed that the problem lies with the solenoid.

Where is it?

I assumed it must be in the door but stripped it down and nothing there.

How do i disconnect central locking on a vw fox.?

When we try to start the car we have to lock and unlock or the car wont start. The central locking is hooked up to the immobiliser and alarm and we want to get rid of it. For the last week we have to try up to 100 times before the car recognises the signal from the remote before we can get in.|||Have you tried new batteries in the remote? Also try reprogramming the key fob from the car manual. as previously stated its all part of the security system of the car and cant be overridden.hope this helps|||The whole thing is integrated into the cars electronic systems and cannot be disconnected on its own - the thing needs to be properly fixed.

Does any body know how to do the central locking in a car its difficult or not please tell me?

Don't try this at home...that stuff is best left to a good mechanic as there are a gazillion ways to screw it up.

How do you fix a cars central locking?

My BMW Mini One's central locking has started to go, not just using the button on the key but also by opening the door handles from inside the car and by using the switch on the control panel inside the car.

Is this a garage job or is it possible to fix yourself, I know nothing about cars but can't afford an expensive car bill.

Does anyone know if I will still be able to manually unlock everything if I can't fix it. The car only has one key lock, on the drivers door. When you turn the key in this door it also unlocks the passenger door / boot / petrol flap but I am not sure if turning the key in the drivers door is triggering the central locking to unlock the other things therefore if it goes I won't be able to open the petrol cap, boot etc.

Only other problem I can think of is at the moment the car is set to automatically lock when you drive off, is this feature possible to turn off yourself or would I have to take it to Mini?|||It's typical of european cars, one action to lock/unlock everything that use lock system. To turn off lock on certain speed, you need to remove the sensor speedometer, but this isn't safe anymore. To set the door lock only lock on manual action, you need to release the wire connection on mototr on the door lock switch. You can do this job on your own if you have experience and passion. If you doubt you have those condition, you can start by read on manual repair biook that been release by Hayne's or Chillton.

Car does not lock with remote after driving ,have to wait 20mints and the central locking will operate?

what could be the fault|||It sounds like it is time to change the battery in the remote control.|||the usual problem with central remote locking is jamming locks in the doors.

there are "solenoids" that operate the locks when you click the zapper dodad.. but if dirt in the locks etc is making resistance the solenoids sense the resistance and refuse to open.

maybe the jiggling of driving makes the jamming worse in your case. In addition to the above, its possible one of the wires to the solenoids has a loose or dirty connection.

I suggest you take the front door trim panels off and spray some WD40 (water repellant light oil in a spray can.. ) onto the locks and levers. WD40 won't effect the electrics. Check the mechanisms for free movement. While you have the mechanism visible operate the door clicker doodad and see that everything is working smooth. Let the WD40 flow a bit from its spray can so that it flushes dirt out of the locks.

Unplug the wires a few times and reconnect them. If anything looks loose, replace or solder it. If any of the plastic bushes or metal rods look damaged.. repair or replace them,

If the central lock operates the back doors, do the above to them as well.

In all the above operations, check that the solenoids operate freely and consistently. Door solenoids are probably about $80 each at a wreckers yard if yours look a bit suss..

Even if the problem is as simple as a new little battery required for a clicker ( which I doubt very much since it would be really really weird for that to cause a fault that happens only after you drive the car! ).. the above procedure is normally required in a central locking system as a service item ( lubricate and check )..

Most of the joints are plastic bushes with metal rods, so just zapping with WD40 to get crap out is enough. But smearing a bit of "dry lube" or white grease in the mechanisms in addition.. isn't such a bad idea. Dont get too liberal with grease stuff however since it attracts and holds dirt and might jam the mechanism again even quicker!

How can i repair the central locking on my renault clio so the boot locks as well as the doors?

When i lock my car (an 02 reg Renault Clio) using the central locking system the doors lock but the boot remains unlocked. Central remote locking for my car?

i have a 1986 toyota corolla without central locking.. im wondering that if i buy a remote central locking kit (ie. keyless entry) whether that kit will come with central locking? i know it sounds pretty stupid but i just wanted to check what it all means because i dont want to buy the kit and install it to find out it only locks one door.. lol...

thanks in advance

just had a quick look on ebay for a cheap keyless entry kit and i was looking at this:

will this include central locking?|||Yes, that kit includes 4 motors, 1 is the main and the other 3 are slaves.

Has anyone else had there car/van broke into by a device which opens the Central locking/?

twice now my car has been broke into by some parasite who has a device which basically open my car the same way as if they have the central locking remote.. no damage .. no forced entry.. it just opens and the alarm is also de activated.. has this happened to anyone else or have you heard of the gizmo which does this?|||Are you sure it actually locked in the first place, some thieves are using a wireless doorbell to jam the signal from your key, in effect you think the remote locking has worked but it has been jammed by the thief who is in close proximity to your car usually within 10 meters. The best way to to counter this is to physically check that the car is locked.

My car has remote central locking locking, why not my house?

Seriously, cars from about 拢6000 new have this, my house is worth at least that, why isn't it fitted? It can't be a legal thing because cars worth millions have it too. it would help, i can never find my keys (so key-less entry) and in the dark, i can't find the hole (no pun intended)|||Thats funny. I just thought the same thing the other day when I used the remote to open the garage. It would be so much easier. Invent it please|||They already make similar systems for commercial applications. In my building at work, I just wave my ID badge in front of a sensor that detects the badge and unlocks the door. I'm sure they could install a similar system in a residence. But, it would be pretty expensive, especially if you had to retrofit all the wiring in.

Also, a lot of people have their garages attached to their houses, to where they can just walk into their houses from the garage. The guy across the street from me never uses his front door. He just keeps his garage clicker on his keychain and uses the automatic opener to go in and out of his house through the garage.|||You will have to wire the entire house as it is being constructed. I believe such systems have been invented but are so expensive they are only in the highest-end custom-built "smart" houses (i.e. the $10 million %26amp; up sort of house). If you can invent a cheaper way of doing it, or invent a way to retrofit the house, you might have a money maker. Be sure to patent your system when you invent it or all your work is for naught.|||it seems that you can get it. i just looked on ebay and there are loads on there, starting at about 拢30

Vw polo. I'm locked out of my car. central locking possible failure?

the key will not open the doors or the boot. I think it's a problem with the central locking. would really appreciate some advice|||A neighbour had a Beamer with same problem. There should be a routine to help in this situation. With his it involved the passenger side front door. Insert key, turn to front of car, push in door knob or lift door handle, whilst holding position of door knob or handle turn key to rear of car: door should open! It took some WD 40 in the lock as well and a few tries but it did work! Maybe VW's have a similar procedure? The hand book of the Beamer gave us the clue, have you access to a car handbook, it might tell you what to do. I hope this helps, post more if you want clarification. Regards AJ.

Can anyone recommend a smaller power source than a car battery to use central locking?

I need to use a car central locking mechanism for something other than a car and require a power source smaller than a car battery. Any ideas?|||A car battery is big because it must supply the starter motor about 100 amps. The current draw is small for your application, so any battery, or set of batteries, at least the size of a D cell that, when put in series, add up to 12 volts will do. Try Radio Shack or Batteries Plus or whatever electronics shop is in your area, or search the web for a battery cassette that will let you wire it up for D cells. If you want something rechargable, you can use a small lead-acid gell cell or two in series to get 12 volts. They come about the size of a deck of cards.|||No|||Flashlight batteries develop 1.5 volts per cell. You can place 8 cells in series to obtain 12 volts. You can choose AAA, AA, C or D cells to obtain the size you want and put two (or more) sets of 8 cells in parallel to extend life. You may also try rechargeable cells but check total voltage of pack to be close to 12 volts. Of course if the lock is constantly in use batteries may not last long enough.|||Try a 12amp....|||i don't believe you can just pick a different power source for a central locking mechanism other than what that locking mechanism requires. i mean if you bought a central locking device that was purposely manufactured for cars that have a 12-volt battery, then 12 volts of electrical power is what that device requires in order for it to work properly.

if you want to use a lower/smaller power supply source, you have to find and buy a central locking device that was not designed to work on cars.

How could I fix the locking problem on my car?

I have just bought a Golf Mark 3 TDI 1996 reg, but the central locking system locks the car whenever the back passenger doors are opened.

2nd car key won't work central locking?

Car is a Renault Laguna Estate S reg.

1st key works fine for the central locking. 2nd key doesn't. Was never used, and has never had a battery in it.

How can I get it to work, without spending much or nothing?|||Hello

If you mean as a remote?

Insert new battery and close

Sit in car close doors and put key in ignition.

Turn ignition On (Not start)

You have Max 10 Secs to press and release Lock or Unlock button.

Door locks should cycle to show key is now matched to the car remote system.

If you mean as a Physical key then take to a Key cutter, Most big supermarkets have them these days and ask them to check it.

Or get out a fine file or Emery Paper (Wet and Dry) and try taking off any high points.

Andy C|||i think you have a key that needs a little filing ,take it to a locksmith ,and he will see if there is any small differences between the keys|||It Could be like a lot of car manufacturers today the key memory needs re programming via the deal;ers computer and the manufacturers computers|||Fit a new battery and try the key again .

How to disconnect a car battery before going for a vacation - so that central locking is still active?

the locks are not electrically operated the central locking merely opens and closes them disconnecting the battery when the doors are locked will leave them locked and even more secure since then only a key will open them|||If you're not going to be on vacation for very long, say over 30 days, I'd leave the battery connected. The reason for this is that the computer in your car will have to "relearn" your driving habits all over again once the battery is reconnected upon your return. All electronic memories like your radio functions and any other settings will have to be reprogrammed. It's not that big of a deal, but there's really no purpose in disconnecting the battery for up to 30 days. The car's electrical systems will not draw much energy from the battery. Any alarm system you likely have on the car will also not be working. The main thing is, enjoy your well deserved vacation and don't worry about the battery running down. Good luck with your decision!|||There is no way you can accomplish this unless you rewire the locking mechanism to the battery separetely|||Just take the negative (black) cabble off.. But make sure it isn't going to ground out on anything, very important.. But yeah you cant keep just the locks powerd up, use the key.|||You can't. Central Locking needs power to function|||battery must be connected of else central locking will be disabled|||Just take off one or both cables and use the key to lock the doors.

Why on my picasso car on the central locking will all the doors open but for one?

Only one indicator light flashing when I use the central locking on my car?

You know when you lock/unlock your car remotely with the central locking, and the indicators flash?

Well only one side on mine is doing it and it's kinda giving me the shits cause I've put a fair bit of work into my car.

I've checked that both sides work when I indicate, and both sides work when I use the hazard light... Just not with the central locking?!?!?!

It's probably something simple but I just can't think of what it is??

Any suggestions would be tops, thanks!!|||If both sides work when you signal and all your hazards work, then don't worry about it.

There is a receiver inside your vehicle somewhere that your remote sends the signal to. It's usually under the dash. If it really bothers you that much, find the little box wherever it is and double check that all the connections are tight. Pretty much the only thing I can think of. Unless your particular remote locking model does that as an indication something is wrong. Might want to read the manual.

Is it your signal lights that flash when you push the button, or the main headlights? Could just be a burned out bulb.

EDIT: Drake that is funny crap.|||Or it could be like most alarms and uses the parking lights not the turn signal lights as an indicator. If it is indeed hooked up to your turn signal bulbs the install shop is a bunch of idiots. You have a burn`t out bulb on whatever side does not work|||if you push button one time it only unlocks and blinks the drivers side. push it twice and it will unlock all doors and blink all lights|||Ah, sounds like you need to refill/top up you central locking indicator fluid.

Does a fuel pump run on the same fuse as the central locking on your car?

Normally they don't, unless it has been messed up. Comfort and engine functions are usually kept apart.|||You would hope not. I've heard Dodge runs stupid unrelated stuff together though so if you have a dodge maybe.|||I will have to say no most cars and trucks have a one set fuse for a fuel pump|||Not normally.

Fuel pump has a dedicated circuit on all vehicles we have seen.|||You must have fuel pump and lock problems by the way you worded your question. The 2 are definitely on separate circuits with separate fuses. The only possibility of the two problems being related to a common repair would be a major wiring harness problem which is highly unusual. Your owners manual and or the fuse box cover should have a fuse diagram telling you what fuses are related to what components they protect on your vehicle.|||Well everyone is going towards knowing that the items are usually on separate circuits, but.

But the only thing that these two circuits have in common is that they both are part of the alarm circuit.

You might of locked your car on the last of the batteries' life then unlocked the car by key because the keypad was not working. The alarm/security system shuts off the fuel pump via keypad/fob and also locks the doors. Take it to a dealer if it has a factory security system, tow it in. Or if the security system is store bought/installed take it to the place of purchase.|||More than likely not. You'll have to consult with the owners manual to find out for sure. But I hope not!

Do all ford central locking remotes work with other fords if reprogrammed by the doner car?

Central locking stopped working in car?

audio and central locking just stopped working in my suzuki ignis car, can any one help or is it going to be a costly trip to the mecanic? thanks in advance

i have changed fuse and the audio appears to be fixed but once i turn the engine it goes off again, thinking fuse blew ...happened a few times now. with the central locking, havent tried anything yet as it only happened this morning.|||Do you have a phone charger or something similiar plugged into cig lighter? It does suggest a blown fuse as it fixes it until it turn the ignition on. Have seen similiar problems and that has been the cause. Worse case could be BCM (body control module) which could be 2-300 quid. But that's worse case. Haven't seen anything too common come through warranty.|||if you asked the Suzuki dealer nicely "in your experience, have you heard of this happening?" "is it a common problem?" they might tell you what causes it. y'know, polite, friendly, flattering their expertise etc.|||Fuses are designed to blow when there is a fault. No point just changing the fuse without fixing the fault which could be aywhere in the Audio and central locking systems.

Where i could find remote central locking for my Honda city i-vtec model?

Can you get a new car key or remote central locking for a used car?

I purchased an old used car and the car keys are bent and buckled to the point it wont last very long so I wondering who I should see to get a replacement key and how long it takes and how much will it cost ALSO

The remote central locking and key comes in 2 seperate parts and not as in built in remote central locking key like cars today.

The remote central locking is separate from the car key itself so its annoying having to carry the remote central locking part that opens the car and the car key itself to turn the car on.Its a 1994 mazda model therefore the remote central locking isnt built into the car key. I dropped the central locking part in a puddle of rain water and now its signal to the car alarm is weak so Im having trouble opening the car and stating it.

How do I find out problem about my BMW Z3. power windows, central locking will not work after I jumped the car

After jump starting my BMW Z3, the power windows, central locking will not work. Is this something I can fix myself?|||This happens from time to time, I believe it's due to a glitch in mechanism, I've had that happen on my 525 and also opening trunk internally, I'd take it to dealer get it checked as soon as your next inspection is due or oil change, I had to bear with it for some time, as I didn't have time to take it in. Problem goes away by itself, it can be at any given time. (Obviously consult your manual) Most likely it'll say to have it checked, (No time) As I said it should go away at any given moment.

I didn't fully read your question, very strange you jump started it, you are not supposed to, you would throw off the mechanism, you should've called road assistance, (should be part of the package, for a new car) otherwise could end up voiding the warranty. You might have a problem, you need to call or check for the problem at

By the way, if this is the case, you really don't have a choice but to take it to the dealer or a BMW specialist. I know of one, where are you located?

Hope this helped.|||you gotta budget better. the shop gets the car why they are insured and if you do bad stuff to a car and anything you touch will be held against you in a court of law and the same principal apply to a car, you lucky you didn't take half the car out they factory set some stuff up to prevent theft if you have a burgler alarm you better get in to get the wires checked for ,i had to give up on it as a total loss it had a burgler alarm nott as big as my fist trapped at the rear base where there was plenty of pressure on it. the car was not designed to have a giant ball of wires trap between the block and the fire wal and it was traced to having to pull the whole sterring column out so if it run get ready to dump it if you see you really need a new harness if you have crossed wires in the burgler set up sometimes they have to put in a new starter in a car equipt with burgler stuff and they don't get the same things to happen that the other starter did.it not noticiable to anyone except under the condition that you try to jump it does the variables in where the starter came from it has ti be dead on if anything is wired different the feed back is your fried wire

there's no way out once the burgler alarm is add. you can only jump the battery or charge it when you have disconnected the cable totally away from the battery and the jumpers and or charger.. so if you open your hood and try that jumping stuff again, you'll see your harness is getting hot on the fire wall main heavy haress and could go up in smoke and fire when it burns the insulation through, you are shorted out on those pieces you said don't work know and will cause you further problems|||Unless you really want to dive into a good repair manuals electrical diagrams or you have one of those multiple hundred dollar computer diagnostic tools, you are probably not going to be able to fix it yourself. I know nobody wants to pay the exorbitant dealer repair costs, but sometimes its worth not spending countless hours of frustration.|||These guys are morons or something. That is either a blown fuse or a tripped breaker. Check your fuse panel box, on the cover it will say what each one is for. find the one that says power windows and pull it out and check it, if it's a fuse. If it's a little silver box about 1-1/4 in long, it's a breaker, and has tripped. Take it out and then put it back in,, that should clear it.

Put in a new car stereo, now central locking and interior lights and stereo have all stopped working!!!?

I have a 1993 mazda eunos 30x / mx-3... I have purchased a new aftermarket pioneer cd player and did this: I unplugged the battery and then removed the cd player and radio as specifically detailed from instructions found online. i connected the iso harness to the cd player and plugged it all back up....it worked and sounded great!!! i turned the car off and then unplugged the cd player to put in the din harness in the dash. i heard a slight spark sound when i pushed the wires to the back and so rechecked the wires and they are all protected. i pluged the cd player in, it looked awesome, turned the car back on and it would not work...

Then i pulled it all back out check the wires and accidentally hit the red and yellow wires and the interior lights and alarm lights flashed then stopped. now the lights wont go on and the central locking wont lock.?!?!?! i have check all fuses under dash and under hood, they are fine...what has happened!!!?!?!?|||i would still thinks its a fuse... use a tester on each fuse under the dash..|||the computer probably has to be reset|||i did the same thing with a 1996 grand am but it wouldnt start after words a wire must have gotten disconnected somewhere so look and make sure just the radio wires are there and nothing more..fined the acc wire with is the light dimer that hooks up to the stereo and im sure that grounded out somewere

Does my car have REMOTE central locking as standard?

Before you ask, when i brought my car it only had 1 key with it and the guy said he had lost the other one.

Specs: 99 Ford Fiesta 1.25 Zetec - V Reg.

The key I have has a RED chip on it, so i know it's the master key. A couple of people have said that if there is a infrared system above the internal lights then it should be REMOTE central locking.

If this is the case, where could i get a replacement fob/key for my car?

Thanks|||Short answer, no.

Any Ford dealer can supply a duplicate key.|||You should have got TWO keys AS WELL as the red key, so the guy lost two. You can get them cut and programmed to your car by a good vehicle locksmith (I think that age you can still program it using the red key). Don't keep using your red key as you REALLY don't want to lose or damage it as it will be very expensive to replace. Whether it is remote CL or not, Ford will be able to tell you if you call them up and give them your reg.|||Remote locking on Fords do not use infra red they use a radio code to open the doors and hatch. The red chip on it is for the immobiliser and nothing to do with central locking.|||you will need to take proof of ownership, vin# year ,make ,and model to the ford dealership parts department and they can get you one.|||Go to a ford dealership... they will tell you everything you need to know|||I just purchased 2 keys for my Toyota Landcruiser and had them coded. Goodbye 拢260 quid.|||according to parkers (see sources) your car is not fitted with remote central locking, and the only variants that were are the Zetec S (which is a 1.6) and the ghia, the top model, so i expect that this is correct, autotraders info also agree with this.

however, you do still need another key, you are putting yourself at risk of great expense because if you lose the key, not only will you need to pay a locksmith to get into the car, you will need to pay ford to disable the immobiliser (the chip in the key basically turns off the immobiliser allowing you to drive it), you would also need new locks and keys, and in the end, it would be cheaper to buy a new car. as someone said, any good locksmith should be able to do it, for example timpson's. almost anyone who does car keys will do the chips, because almost every car has had these chips in for over 10 years now.

you can either have a generic key or an original (so it says ford on it), if you want an original you will need to either go to a dealer or timpsons do offer this service at some places, it says on their website.

Is it possible to install a car alarm and central locking system seperately?

Im trying to save cost when hiring someone to install it my car alarm system. Ive been looking around and it seems that you can only get installation service if you buy the car alarm system off them which makes sense of youre trying to make good money.

so instead im thinking about:

buying a cheaper central locking system off ebay then buy a car alarm system off the installation service provider and ask them to install the central locking system I bought off ebay and the car alarm system off them.

This would save me cost of buying the central lokcing system and the car alarm itself from the installation service provider which would be really expensive.

Central Locking problem in my Car (opel)?

Hi,

I have Opel Astra 1995 1.6 G sedan type car (it's known as Vauxhall in some countries) and my car's central locking system has jammed all the doors lock except the driver's door.

I have been facing this problem earlier time to time but for very short duration and this time it's like dead lock and I am unable to open any door except the driver's door. The locks won't open even if I try the key or pull the locks from inside of car.

Is there anyway I can disable central locking completely to get rid off this?

These

difficulties fall into two general categories: those related to the lock

set or key, and those related to the door's frame and latch assembly.

#

Step 1

If the key turns but does not operate the lock bolt, the lock mechanism is broken. Remove the mechanism to have it repaired, or replace the lock set yourself.

#

Step 2

To remove a mortise lock-set cylinder for repair (see illustration for How to Tighten a Loose Doorknob), remove the deadbolt knob by loosening the setscrew in the sleeve of the knob using a standard screwdriver or Allen (hex) wrench, or by removing any mounting screws. Then, on the faceplate, loosen the setscrew opposite the lock cylinder and unscrew the lock cylinder.

#

Step 3

To remove the rest of a mortise lock set, take off the interior knob, the exterior handle and any trim. Remove the faceplate and strike plate by removing their screws.

#

Step 4

To replace a mortise lock set with one that has the same dimensions, reverse the procedure in step 3, making sure to follow the detailed instructions that the new unit will probably include.

#

Step 5

To remove cylinder and tubular lock sets, locate a slot on the shaft of the knob. Depress and hold down the protruding spring clip with a screwdriver (or a thumbnail) as you pull the knob straight out (see A). Or, if there is no slot, loosen the two machine screws in the face of the rose. If there's a mounting plate, loosen (or sometimes remove) the two machine screws to take out the cylinder (see B).

#

Step 6

To replace the lock set, reverse the procedure in step 5. If you cannot reuse the strike plate (or prefer not to), unscrew it. Position the new one to check the fit in the mortise (recess).

#

Step 7

If the mortise is too large, install the strike plate temporarily and fill the excess mortise with wood putty. When the putty is hard, remove the plate to sand the putty smooth and touch up the finish (use either primer and paint or stain and varnish).

#

Step 8

If the mortise is too small, trace the plate's perimeter on the wood and use a sharp chisel to extend the mortise. First make vertical cuts at the perimeter with the bevel side facing inward. Then, with the bevel flat on the already mortised area and the chisel at a low angle, chisel out wood up to the perimeter cut.

Other lock-set problems

#

Step 1

If a replacement key won't turn, it may have been cut poorly. Check the lock set's operation using the original key. If the replacement key is faulty, take it back to the store where you had it cut and ask for another.

#

Step 2

If the key turns but only with effort, lubricate the lock mechanism with graphite powder or silicone spray by injecting the lubricant into the keyway. Work the key or thumb latch back and forth to distribute the lubricant.

#

Step 3

If lubricating fails, the tumblers in the lock cylinder might be damaged. Remove the lock cylinder or lock set and bring it to a locksmith for a minor repair.

#

Step 4

If the key either does not fit into the lock or won't turn, and you've been having wet, freezing weather, the lock is likely frozen. Spray a lock de-icer into the key slot or warm it with a hair dryer.

#

Step 5

If a latch bolt doesn't extend fully, the mortise for it might not be deep enough. Remove the strike plate and bore the hole deeper; the hole has a 7/8-inch (22-mm) diameter, so you'll need a spade drill bit that size.

#

Step 6

If you have to push against the door to make it latch, weather-stripping may be pressing against the door. Reposition the weather-stripping; adjust the strike plate's position; or remove the strike plate, put it in a vise to file off the offending portion, and reinstall it.

#

Step 7

If a latch bolt bumps into the bottom edge of the hole in the strike plate, tighten the hinges (see How to Fix a Binding Door). If that doesn't fix the problem, adjust or file the strike plate as described in step 6, above.

How would you know if your car had remote central locking?

My friend has made this very complicated for me and because I am easily baffled I am not very baffled.

I had a BMW 3 series and after letting one of my friends borrow it for Christmas he accidentally crashed it and had it written off. When I purchased this car I was given 2 key remote key fobs.

2 months later I purchased the exact same car, same model, same reg, same year, same engine etc but this car only came with a normal key to open the doors manually.

What I want to know is can I use one of the key fobs for the car that was written off with my current car, as they are both the exact same cars?

This car has central locking (it is a 2 door). This current key fob I am talking about has no battery in it and I don't think it has been programmed at all. Thanks.|||Well if your talking about the remote access then possibly yes, but if your talking about the manual key then no way.

Can mobile phone masts cause an engine warning light to come on in car? I know it affects the central locking?

We know we can't use central locking by phone mast! But have found for the last 4 months or so (since travelling to new work place) that the engine warning light comes on near a mast - once we are away from it, the light goes off - the car drives fine and garage checked and felt that it could be radio mast - has anyone else heard otf this?|||Ok, then on the way home from work, go past the cell tower and exit near it. Then gradually drive away on a local road until the MIL engine check light goes off. Then turn around and approach the cell tower again and prove that it comes back on. I'm guessing it's a coincidence, but what your asking comes under the electrical engineering subject known as EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) issues with electrical and electronic systems. Your car is designed and tested to operate normally under strong EMC fields. Cell towers typically use less than a 100 watt transmitter at 900 or 1800 MegaHertz. However, they do have about 20 decibels of antenna gain which multiplies the radiated power by 100 times to 10,000 watts (Effective Radiated Power, ERP). So it's definitely possible and many cases have been reported in the literature of similar cases over the years. Of course a television station might be radiating 5,000,000 watts, so you might wonder why your MIL lamp doesn't go on when you go by those much more powerful transmitters. One reason is that the EMC response of your auto electronics subsystems are frequency sensitive.|||No, I haven't, but I did have a "faulty" indicator light on my mid sized truck. Took it to the dealer, and they kept resetting it and after a while it would come back on. They replaced the sensor for the warning light, and I never had that problem again.|||Im guessing you can't use the central locking near the phone mast because of the radio frequencies being used both by the mast and the remote.

As for the check engine light (CEL) it should not come on when you drive near the phone mast. The only thing I could think of that would cause it is if the phone signals are interfering with your vehicles electrical system. Normally it is possible for a cell phone to cause feedback in the sound system, so I am assuming it is also possible in other systems. In which case it would sound like the interference is causing the computer to detect a faulty sensor and turn on the CEL light. And as soon as you travel further away it re-retects the sensor as good and turns the light back off.

As I said though, this is all a guess as my only expeirience is eletronic feedback through my radio when my phone or a phone near my car goes off. This normally only happens for me on a winding mountain road though.

How do i solve a central locking problem?

I own a Ford Fiesta 1998 S reg. The problem is that the central locking doesn't seem to work properly. I have changed the battery in the car and in the key and also re-programmed the key the thing is;

When sitting inside the car the central locking works fine. All doors lock and un-lock after a few presses of the button. However, when outside the car nothing works at all. When i lock and unlock the car maually, again all locks work fine!

Any help would be greatly appeciated.

Thanks!

|||It sounds like there is not enough strength in the signal when operating from outside the car.

You could check that the new batteries are in fact good. You could also try checking again but via an open window to see where the signal will operate from in terms of distance.

Good luck. h

Car remote central locking?

Ok I have a Honda prelude and it has remote central locking. the only problem is that when I use it it doesn't flash the hazards or anything. So I don't really know when it's locked. As it's so quiet when it locks I sometimes have to check it which renders the RC-Locking pointless.

Ideally, I'd like it to flash the indicators when it lock/unlock it, maybe a beep or something, but I'd also like the lights to turn on when I unlock it. I've seen this on a few newer cars and it's cool.

I'd appreciate any help, Thanks in advance|||is your locking system factory or aftermarket? if it is factory go to the dealership. if it is aftermarket gather all the info you can on it and see if it has audible and visual features with it. |||Your best option is probably to purchase an after-market keyless entry system for the vehicle. My car stereo, central locking and interior light have all stopped at the same time?

in my 1990 mitsubishi lancer, my car stereo, central locking and interior light have all stopped working? i pulled the head unit out, un did sum speaker wires, atached some new ones i bought to try them out then put the old wires back together which were stil connected to the old speakers etc so to my knowledge all the wiring is back the same as before but then when i turned the car off an back on again (dunno why i did that) next thing the radio wont come on? the interior light wont either an now when i get out to save looking for tommorow in the light my central locking wont work?? all because i pulled out a few wires in the back of my stereo? the fuses are not broken so what the hell has happens?? :( :(|||i would say you put the wires back the wrong way or didnt connect them properly. when you do something like that you should write down everything you do and what colour wires went where etc. also if you connected something wrong or even correctly you may have blown a main fuse, check the fuses under the bonnet and under the drivers side dashboard to make sure none are blown, otherwise im stumped.. good luck though

If the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system under attack doesn't use extra encryption and authentication algorithm, this traditional try and error approach is quite useful in hacking most of the RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) systems.|||I highly suggest you do not buy, unknown off brand name of some cheap pile of crap of an alarm. a decent car alarm is not cheap, a good one runs a litte over 300 bucks, installed ,and will include key features such as remote start and door lock, and unlock, also it would be upgradeable, so if you choose to add other features, you can without replacing the entire system. and if you go talk to a local stereo outlet near your house, find someone who knows enough not to sell you some cheap chinese crap alarm for a hundred bucks, that is basically junk even if brand new. Find out the top three names of alarm manufacturers who use good electronics, not cheap shoddy knock offs that break in six months to a year and focus on buying one of those three, if you insist on buying an alarm off ebay. I would pay the 300 plus, first of all it gets a professional install, you have any problems and at least someone has the know how to trouble shoot, and fix the problem.

There are questions on here every week, HELP CAR ALARM I BOUGHT WONT WORK, AND I CANT START MY CAR! its your money do what makes sense to you!|||Odd answers.

A car alarm is, at best, a deterrent. As all cars now have ignition immobilisers, car theft is done 99% of the time by someone pinching your keys, then your car. No alarm will prevent this, and in fact the best deterrents were the old Citroen %26amp; Peugeot 'keypad' immobilisers - a friend in the scrap business told me that if they didn't have the code for one, the cost %26amp; complexity of getting around them made it uneconomical to do anything other than strip the cars for parts.

I work in electronics, and this involves both fitting, and more commonly removing, factory %26amp; aftermarket alarm systems when they invariably go wrong. I've fitted some of the cheapy central locking %26amp; alarm kits off Ebay, and (touch wood) never, ever had a problem or a unit fail - certainly not in the last ten years. I do, however, regularly remove or replace 'quality alarm systems regularly - yesterday, both a VW factory unit in a Golf %26amp; a Thatcham certified alarm in a Suzuki.

In short, yes, they're 'hackable', but I assume you're not fitting a cheap alarm to a 拢50,000 car. And as above, if someone wants your car they can trailer it away in under 3 minutes, or if it's what's in the car they're after, then no alarm stops a window being broken. As a deterrent, a cheap alarm is easily as good as one costing several hundred.|||It's not so much a problem of them being hacked and disarmed. It's more of a problem that you don't know who owned it before you and what they've done to it.

The system may not be secure because the previous "owner" will know the codes to disable it. In fact, it may not actually operate in the way the expect and so parts of the system could be disabled before you even fit it. You wouldn't know about that until someone breaks into your car - and it's too late then!

With national gangs of car thieves around, do you really want to put yourself at risk just to save some money by not buying from a reputable dealer?

Cheapskates who skimp on safety and security are more at risk than those who don't fit any devices at all - because they will give you a false sense of security, which is a bad thing.|||Probably as safe as the ones you would buy in your local car accessories shop.

I assume that the other doors do unlock so you can get inside. On my car, if the doors are locked, you pull the inside door handle twice and it unlocks the door. If yours does not, I then I don't know.

If it does then you can disassemble the door and replace the electric lock etc.

Also, you can probably unlock the door from the outside with a 'Slim Jim'. It's what the bad guys use to steal your car, the cops use to help you out and the tow service usually have them too. It's a thin metal strip that you slide into the door next to the window. Usually you can hook the door lock and pop it open. Best to call a tow service and ask them or your local car thief.

What's wrong with central locking on our car?

Hi we just bought a Skoda Octavia (3 yrs old, brought it home yesterday) and it was working perfectly in showroom, salesman came across and pressed the button to open the car so we could have a look - all fine, all doors unlocked. Now however when we press the unlock button on the fob it sounds like all doors are unlocking but only the driver's door actually unlocks. The rest stay locked, the only way to open them is to press a button inside the car (you know there is a button to lock all doors from inside car and a button then to unlock all doors from inside car). The fob seems to be working fine apart from this, it locks, opens the boot etc. We've tried both fobs and the same thing happens (just driver's door unlocks) we've looked in the handbook but can't seem to find the information we need. Probably something simple but any sensible advice, especially from other skoda octavia owners would be much appreciated. Thanks|||on most of them that's all it will unlock anyway ,its a safety feature, read the owners manual on it,mine only un-locks the drivers door, once the door is opened then you hit the un-lock button and it un-locks everything else,it might be meant to be that way but the manual should tell, good luck with it.|||good deal, enjoy it.

How do i open my central locking wen the car battery is flat and no keyholes on the doors?

Change or recharge the battery. Just a couple of hours should be enough to get you in.|||If your car has been 'de locked' so there really aren't any keyholes, and your certain that it's a flat battery, then you should be able to fiddle the bonnet open by working through the grille to get to the battery. If not, you could possibly get to the starter motor from under the car %26amp; use a battery %26amp; jump leads to supply voltage to the main cable between battery %26amp; starter to allow you to unlock the car, but DON'T mess about with this method unless you're confident that you know what you're doing.|||Ideally you should re-charge the battery but you probably won't be able to open the bonnet so that will not be possible.

Have a look and see if there is a keyhole in the tailgate or boot. Sometimes you can get in that way and then open the bonnet to get at the battery.

If that doesn't work then call the AA or RAC. If it's a new car then they often come with a year or two of free membership. If it's under guarantee then call the dealer. Otherwise I'm afraid that you'll have to get a main dealer out to do the job or you risk some expensive damage if your cheap locksmith doesn't know exactly what they're doing.|||That sounds similar to the Rolls Royce with the hood welded shut. I hope its not a mid-90's BMW..... heard plenty of similar stories about them frying electrics in similar cases

Assuming that you own the problem just start doing things logically, sounds like there could be still be a fuse problem so best to recheck this first, if still no go then start with your radio (you have a key for the doors and a watch on your wrist anyway), check for your power supply first (a multimeter would be great but a 12V lightbulb and a bit of electrical cable will be fine too) and just take your time to work it out logically from there.|||The car radios of today have security features that if power is lost or radio is removed from the car that the radio will become nonfunctional. The radio will prompt you to enter a code to unlock the radio. If you do not know the code then you will need to take it to the dealer to have them unlock it.|||Make sure the battery can actually supply enough current (Amps) to your car to make those things work. Remote central locking for my car/ i need to buy and fit one. help?

i have just purchased a honda civic 1995 SLI model, 3doors. superb drive but i want to have remote central locking on it. can i do that myself and how? where to purchase a reliable one

anyone who can do it in the dagenham area, essex?|||Yes you can do it yourself. You need to be fairly handy with power tools and tools in general.

You'll need a kit for the doors and one for the hatch.

You might try checking out a scrapyard first - just to see where the bits are attached. If you can take it off, you can put it on. Just use a digital camera and take loads of photos for reference.

Also, buy a Haynes Manual (~拢19 from Halfords) and it will detail how to remove and refit the CL system.

You need to connect the system to the correct fuse point in the fuse panel and use the recommended fuse.

Don't tie it into another system to save time.

Using a relay unit with a remote fob, you connect the unit to the door actuators and insulate the electrical joints. you'll need a lot of coloured auto electric wire.

I put RCL in a car I had about 8 years ago. It take a bit of time if you're not familiar with it but the actuators you get with a kit are not always up to the job. If you can get a set from a scrapper, it's an easier deal. Plus you can remove the wiring loom associated with the CL system and it saves having to guess which wires to connect to what.

You'll need grommets for the doors and pillars so that you can pass wires through. Most systems have a plug that connects onto the actuator but this makes it easy to pass it through the pillar and door.|||If you contact an auto electrical company they can fit one for around 150 quid - You can buy a decent kit of elecs and motors for 40 quid and install it yourself if you're handy with stuff like that but central locking pumps/motors are a pain if they're not installed properly - you could very well find one of your doors not locking after a couple of weeks.

Make sure you buy it from a specific auto electrical retailer, places like halfords will have some fantastic priced junk on their shelves which will give you problems (like their p.o.s. alarms which go off in the middle of the night)

Often, when you are walking to the car with someone else, you do need to unlock from about 10 metres so you don't stop your friend, who may be in front of yourself, from being prevented opening the door. Obviously circumstances vary, but I think it is only a practical issue.

Occasionally, I have the car parked in the road some 50 metres from my cabin, and as I like to check that is locked before I go to bed, I do quite often check it is locked from a distance, as it saves me having to walk the distance, possibly in heavy rain. It's difficult to give you a direct answer as regards fuses etc. without knowing what model and year of car you have, but as a mechanic with 35yrs experience the fault you have sounds very much like a faulty door lock solenoid.
